DID YOU KNOW?
By recycling one plastic bottle, you can power a desktop computer for 25 minutes!

Recycling is a simple way that everyone can help the environment. Recycle Right is a campaign which encourages and assists residents to recycle, reduce their rubbish and buy more recycled products.

All residents in the City of Cockburn have the same two-bin collection system. The green-topped bin is for organic materials, such as kitchen/household waste and smaller garden waste. Contents from your green-topped bins, collected weekly, are processed into high quality compost used in local farming.

The yellow-topped bin is a co-mingled bin for all dry recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and aluminium. Contents from your yellow-topped bins are sorted, baled and sold for reprocessing.

Recycle Right is happy to announce the very first phone app dedicated to waste and recycling in WA. It’s full of useful information to help residents recycle right and live more sustainably. The app tells you what goes in which bin, tips on how to reduce packaging and food waste, how to find your nearest recycling centre using GPS, great tips to re-use many different items plus much more. The app is free and is available to download on your apple or android smartphone or tablet.

Don’t forget the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. They are a simple way to rethink the things that you no longer need and make a difference today!
