The Hammond Park Community Association has had a busy few months! Events and meetings have taken place – all with great outcomes.

First and foremost, traffic and road concerns for the local area were addressed at a recent meeting with the City of Cockburn. With construction of the new Aubin Grove Train Station and new developments in the area, traffic congestion and road safety has become a top concern. The HPCA would like to thank those that attended the meeting and ask the public to sign the Change.org petition so that funding can be obtained to carry out the necessary works and address these safety concerns.

The HPCA’s annual suburb Garage Sale event took place on Saturday, 10 September and was a huge success. There were 17 residents who hosted garage sales in the area, bringing bargain hunters from all over Perth to the event. The majority of hosts sold most of their items and one fortunate resident sold out of everything by noon! The HPCA are already looking forward to next year’s event and are planning for it to take place in early September 2017.

As the weather starts to warm up, HPCA are addressing bushfire safety amongst the community and will be meeting with Success Fire Station for a Fire Safety Presentation. The presentation will cover how bushfires nearby can impact the community, how residents can be prepared for the fire season, the DFES alert system and fire safety in the home. The presentation will take place at the next HPCA bi-monthly meeting on 17 November, 7:00 PM at Hammond Park Primary School and all are welcome to attend.

The HPCA is a small, volunteer-based group and they are always looking for new members to assist in addressing local issues.
