Residents of Hammond Park continue to eagerly await the opening of the Aubin Grove Train Station due in 2017. The opening has been pushed back to allow for the upgrade of Russell Road bridge. The government will spend $25 million to help the bridge cope with the 2000-plus extra cars headed its way each day when the Aubin Grove train station is built.

Once complete, the station at the Russell Road-Kwinana Freeway overpass will service the growing southern corridor suburbs including Atwell and Hammond Park, and reduce demand on facilities at Cockburn Central.

The station will connect to existing shared access paths on both sides of the freeway via two footbridges, which will provide access for the hundreds of passengers who will walk and cycle to the station.

Bicycle facilities will also be incorporated into the final design as well as six new bus feeder services.

The convenience of the new station is hoped to make public transport an even more attractive option for local residents.
